More Halloween Goodies

My son asked me if I would make goody bags for him to take to school --- on Tuesday last week! Yikes! Nothing like waiting until the last minute huh?! Since I was pressed for time, I needed to make something that was easy. I used Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black paper and ran it through the Big Shot with the Two Tags die and embossed them with the Spider Web embossing folder. Once I had them all cut and embossed, I sponged over the spider web with Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White ink to bring out the spider web image more. I used a glue dot to hold the candy down and tied them up with some ribbon. I punched some bats out with the Bitty Bat punch and wrote "From Tanner" on them. Easy peasy! Thanks for looking!

Halloween Goody Bags

Here are some goody bags I made for the kids in my class. I used the Fancy Favor XL die to make the bags. I used up some Summer Sun, Only Orange, and YoYo Yellow retired textured paper for them. Once I ran them through the Big Shot, I stamped the pumpkin from the Batty for You set on Whisper White and punched it out with the 1 1/4" circle punch. I punched out some scallop circles and adhered the stamped pumpkins on them. I then adhered the entire thing onto the bag. For the handle, I used my crop a dile to make holes on the sides and used some jute rope had. I punched out some tags with the small tag punch and tied them on with some linen thread. I filled some cello bags with goodies for the kiddos and tied them up with some whisper white ribbon. The kids were so excited to get something from their teacher! Thanks for looking!

Teacher Birthday Gifts

My son's teacher's birthday was earlier this week so I made her a few goodies. She always drinks a Dr. Pepper for lunch so I decided to give her one. I cut some DSP and wrapped it around the can. The scallops are from the new Tasteful Trim die in the Holiday Mini. I tied a piece of Poppy Parade ribbon around it and that's that. I also made her a composition notebook. I used some paper I had from who knows where to cover both the front and back cover. I then adhered some Chocolate Chip ribbon along the spine. I stamped the Notes to Self on Very Vanilla and matted it on Cameo Coral. I put a courderoy button for the O. For the last gift I made another set of the bath salts like I made in a previous post. Every teacher needs to relax after a long day, so I thought she could put these to good use. Thanks for looking!

Halloween Quilt Cards

Here are a couple Halloween cards I made. I have seen so many of the faux quilt cards that I decided to give it a try. It was really easy and I like how they turned out. It's a great way to use up your scraps or retired paper. To make one you take a piece of Whisper White paper and cut it to 5 x 3 3/4". Then you take a 1 1/4" square punch and punch out 12 squares from your scraps.

Next, you adhere the squares to the whisper white paper. It doesn't matter what you use to adhere the squares just so long as you make sure they are adhered securely. Also, make sure each side of the squares touch each other. If not, there will be white that shows between them. Once all the squares are adhered, run it through your Big Shot with the Top Note Die. Then, adhere the top note quilt to your card base and finish how you'd like. I kept mine simple since they were being mailed. I took my Signo Unibal pen and added faux stitches around each square. I tied a piece of ribbon I had in my stash around it to add a little something. I cut another top note die in whisper white and adhered it to the inside of my card then stamped my sentiment. I used the Teeny Tiny Wishes set for the Happy Halloween. Thanks for looking!

Baby Thank You's

Here is another gift I made for my coworker who is having a baby soon. I thought some thank you notes would be something she could use for all the baby gifts she receives. I know she will appreciate having some ready to go since she will definitely have more important things to take of. :) The baby's room is in yellow, green, and black with bumblebees, so I thought these postcard style thank you's would be perfect. I stamped the bee from the Every Little Bit set on Whisper White, added Crystal Effects on the wings, then cut them out. I used the 2 way glue pen to attach them to the bottom of the card. Then I used my black Stampin' Write marker to make a little trail behind the bee. I used Wild Wasabi and So Saffron for the card base and layered them with Basic Black and Whisper White. I tied some white organza ribbon around the top and added a Wild Wasabi and So Saffron button tied with some Linen Thread. I lined all the envelopes with Wild Wasabi and So Saffron DSP from the Soft Subtles DSP patterns pack. I made 4 of each color for a total of 8 cards and envelopes. I put them all in a clear card box and tied a piece of 1 1/4" Basic Black striped grosgrain ribbon around it. I hope she likes it!

Terra Cotta Pot Ghost

I made this cute ghost out of a terra cotta pot. I painted the pot white first. It took 2 coats to completely cover up the terra cotta color. Once it dried I added the face - just freehanded it. I used plain ole acrylic paints for this that you can get at your local craft store. When that dried, I took a wooden spool and wrapped some wire around it then through the hole in the pot. The spool keeps the wire from coming out of the hole when you hang it. I took some fabric scraps I had and cut them into the length I wanted with my pinking shears and cut some fringe on the ends. I used my pinking shears for the bow also. I hot glued the strips onto the inside of the pot and the bow on. I then hot glued some raffia to the top of the pot (the ghost's head) and tied a piece of jute in a bow to the top of the wire. I added a wooden star to the middle of the jute bow. I think my ghost turned out really cute! I'm going to hang him on my front porch so all the trick or treaters can enjoy him! I think I'll make some more to hang up for next year. It was very easy to make. It's a little time consuming since you have to wait for the paint to dry. Sorry for the orangey look on one of the white strips of fabric. The orange must have reflected on it some when I photographed it.

Bath Salts Gift

A coworker is due with her third child in a few weeks. I wanted to give her something that she can use for herself along with a baby gift. So, when I was visiting Taylor Van Bruggen's blog saw this idea on her 12 days of Christmas and thought this would be perfect for my coworker! I used test tubes I've had in my stash forever and some bath salt I bought at Walmart. All the paper is some I've been hoarding. I used the Eyelet Border punch to add a decorative edge. The sentiment is from the SU! hostess set Afterthoughts that I punched out using the Decorative Label punch. I added a couple rhinestones for a little bling. I punched out 2 tags using the tiny tags punch and wrote bath salt on them (just in case she didn't know) and tied them on with the silver elastic cord that was on the clearance rack. I used some Pretty in Pink satin ribbon to dress it up a bit. It was a quick and easy gift to put togehter. I hope she likes it and takes some time to relax before her newest little one arrives. Sorry there is such a glare from the box. I'll post the other gifts I've made her next week. Thanks for looking!
